Are you having a difficult time keeping up with all the news, social networking sites, blogs, Twitter, etc.? Then Flipboard might just be the app for you. It was first made available in December 2010 for the iPad and in May 2012 for Androids.
This app allows you to create a place where you can gather, collect, and share news based on your interests along with social networking sites you follow and more. Once you get it setup you can easily flip through the pages. Depending on what social networks you have setup on Flipboard you can then share articles you find with others.
I enjoyed the very visual look of this app and found it my Twitter feeds to be very appealing. The large font and pictures were great to look at on Flipboard.
The picture above shows the opening screen on my iPad for Flipboard. Mine is laid out so that on the left side, I have all the major news categories that I'm interested in. The right-hand column I've reserved for my social media timelines, and for our (this) blog. To check my Twitter timeline, I just tap that block, and then I can page through my timeline and read it like a book.
If you are like me, you might be asking and why would I want to use this app?
I enjoyed the very visual look of this app and found my Twitter feeds to be very appealing. The large font and pictures were great to look at on Flipboard. But even more importantly, I can go to one app and flip through to see the newest news articles, my favorite blog posts, RSS feeds, Twitter and other social media updates all in one place. For those who use Instagram, Tumblr, YouTube, Flickr, Linkedin, etc. they can all be a part of your Flipboard. You get to choose from the menu, and you can lay it all out to suit your style.
In closing, if you are finding it difficult to keep up with the news and all your social media sites, this might be just the app for you.
